Having confidence and staying confident is a huge issue whether or not you have a job. When you’re between jobs it often becomes a challenge. Any time other people are judging you and can potentially reject you, your confidence is on the line. When your ability to support yourself and/or your family is at stake, it’s easy for your confidence to get shaky. When you’re facing losing your home, everything you’ve worked for, even losing your family — believing in your self is critical.

Confidence is Both About Doing and Being

Doing Confident is your outer confidence, what people see and hear when they’re with you. It’s your smile, the way you look, your eye contact, your posture, your firm handshake, the way you stand, move, greet people – all the outward manifestations of you. You can often fake outer confidence when you don’t feel it and sometimes faking it is the best you can do. In many instances you can get away with just doing confident, but for your own sake it’s best to both do and be confident.

Being Confident is your inner confidence. This one is harder to fake. It’s what people sense about you when they’re with you. How do you feel about yourself, your skills, your abilities, your talents, your value, or your life? Being confident is believing in yourself and feeling confident.

What’s the magic formula for feeling confident?

I suspect each of us has our own magic formula whether we realize it or not. Take a moment and remember a time when you felt incredibly confident, on top of your game, bulletproof, successful, as though you’d accomplished something BIG, or completed something that you’d struggled with and won. Take a moment and remember how you felt. Feel the feelings you felt at that time, and just enjoy them. That experience and the feelings you felt is the doorway to feeling confidence for you. When you need to access confidence, remember that experience and access those feelings.

Take a moment to look at what you did when you originally felt that feeling of confidence.
How can you do more of that?

Things You Can Do to Promote Confidence

Take good care of yourself: What do you need to do so you can feel and look your best? Be sure to do these things daily.

Remember what you’re good at. If you can’t, ask 5 people to tell you what they think you’re really good at. (You may be surprised at what they tell you.)
Once you know what you’re good at: How can you overplay these strengths to your advantage?

Address your weaknesses: Admit to yourself what you could be better at. How could you improve? What could you do this week to take the first step to improve on one of your weaknesses? After you’ve taken the first step, then take the next step, keep going until you’ve made all the improvements you need to. Then ensure that the improvements stick, create new habits if necessary.

Copy someone you think is (both outer and inner) confident. Think of a person you know who you consider very confident. How can you be more like this person (both outer and inner confident)? You can ask this person what they do to feel so confident. Start being more like this person.

Give yourself challenges, opportunities to accomplish things – then achieve them. When you stretch yourself even a little bit and achieve what you set out to achieve you feel as though you’re making progress and you feel proud of yourself. Finish what you start and celebrate your achievements.

Work out regularly – after an intense workout when your endorphins are coursing through your system, you feel as though you can do anything! Work out regularly so that you can reap this and other benefits.

I’ve noticed that some people seem to find feeling confident a bigger challenge than others do. If you are one of these people, cultivate confidence daily by practicing the suggestions above. Better yet, develop your own confidence cultivating tactics and share them as comments.

People you know are telling you about how acupuncture helped them, and you’re curious about it, but how can it help you? Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can help most medical problems you may have. In fact, they offer treatments for just about any issue you wouldn’t take to an emergency room.

Here are at least ten things that acupuncture and TCM can do that most people can benefit from, although please bear in mind that they can be effective in treating far more issues than are mentioned here:

1) Help You Chill Out

If you have a high stress lifestyle and its effects are starting to show up in your health, acupuncture treatments are a highly effective way to relax you, or mellow you out. Regular acupuncture treatments can even help you to manage your stress when done on an ongoing basis.

2) Help You Get a Good Night’s Sleep

For many people getting a good night’s sleep is the exception rather than the rule. Regardless of the cause, acupuncture can help with insomnia and even sleep apnea to promote more restful sleep which will help to revitalize your body.

3) Heal from an injury

Whether you’ve got a broken bone, a torn cartilage, another traumatic injury, a repetitive strain injury, or have recently had surgery, acupuncture can dramatically promote the healing process. With an acute injury it is best to have regular treatments several times a week soon after the injury to jumpstart your healing .

4) Diminish your pain

Whether you suffer with headaches, back pain, arthritis or any other kind of pain. Acupuncture is highly effective in diminishing pain.

5) Rebalance your Hormones

Whether you struggle with cramps, PMS or issues relating to menopause, Traditional Chinese Medicine has effective treatments which can rebalance your hormones so that you experience less discomfort and achieve long term results.

6) Help You Get Pregnant if You’ve Struggled with Infertility

If you’re interested in trying in vitro fertilization (IVF ), consider having Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments to prepare your body for success with IVF. Many women report that they were able to get pregnant before resorting to IVF with the aid of acupuncture treatments and other recommendations from their acupuncturist, saving themselves plenty of money in the process.

7) Help you get over your cold or flu

Because Traditional Chinese Medicine offers a more precise diagnosis for colds and flus than Western Medicine, the treatments both acupuncture and herbal are also more specific to your exact “flavor” of cold or flu. With a more precise treatment you can often recover faster and feel stronger sooner than people who are using Western Medicine.

8) Strengthen Your Immune System

If you’re feeling run down, fatigued, out of gas, or having trouble healing, acupuncture can help to improve your energy and strengthen your immune system. Acupuncture treatments are great for revitalizing all the systems in your body. For people undergoing chemotherapy, acupuncture treatments are helpful in mitigating the side effects of chemotherapy such as nausea and depleted immune strength.

9) Improve Your Appearance

Whether you’re trying to lose weight or take some years of wear off your face, acupuncture can help you improve your appearance. Weight loss treatments are done as a series in conjunction with improved diet and exercise. Facial acupuncture is also done as a series and is effective at reducing fine lines, age spots as well as other skin issues.

10) Reset your body (your mind, and your spirit too)

Every now and again most of us feel as though we need to “push the reset button” and rebalance our bodies. Whether your blood sugar or blood pressure is higher than it should be, or you’re feeling like you’re on an emotional roller coaster, or you can’t quite recover from an illness, treat yourself to a body, mind and spirit “reset” with an acupuncture treatment.

It’s clear that acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can do more than just mitigate pain. Now that you are aware of more issues that they can address, you can most likely see how they can be beneficial for issues you are dealing with; whether used alone or in conjunction with Western Medicine treatments.

What you can do to Author Your Own Health So You Can perform like a Superstar at work and in the rest of your life?

First, notice the factors that could be eroding your health.

Work

o Constant Stretch Goals or Aggressive Deadlines?
o Business Travel?
o The stresses and strains of the Global Workplace?
o Other Issues?

Off the Job Issues

o Home?
o Family?
o Juggling too Much?
o Other Issues?

Workplace

o Shared germs?
o Ergonomics?
o Toxic Chemical and Hazardous materials?
o Toxic People?
o Other Issues?

Second, notice when and how you tend to get sick.

Do you tend to get sick right after you’ve completed a big project?
Or a week before it’s due?

Do you tend to get a migraine the day before a big presentation?

Do you tend to get sick every time your children bring something home?

Third, are you noticing some limits you have that you weren’t previously aware of?

Have you tackled too much simultaneously at work and at home?

Are there issues in your workplace that are having a bigger effect on you than you realized?

Are you noticing that business travel or another work activity is having an impact on your health?

Fourth, with your new awareness what changes can you make to counteract the health erosion?

Here are some possibilities:

If you find that you are getting sick every time your children bring something home from school or daycare, you may want to look at how much sleep you’re getting, your nutrition, and other ways of shoring up your immune system.

If you notice that you get severe repetitive strain issues the week before a deadline, what can you do to prevent this from happening each time?

If you find you have tackled too much simultaneously at work and at home, take a look to see if there any tasks that you can cut back on, or get help with.

The bottom line is that health is the foundation of your ability to live the life you want. Cultivating your health is the single most important thing you can do to create the foundation for your professional success.

The Workplace is a Great place to Get Sick, or Hurt

Even though most companies pay attention to workplace safety, it’s surprising how easy it is to get hurt or sick in the workplace. Whether it is an injury from the tools you use day to day, known or unknown toxic chemicals or hazardous materials, shared germs or toxic co-workers, your workplace could be hazardous to your health.

PTO vs. Sick Days

Some companies give their employees “sick days” to encourage them to stay home when they’re ill. This may have created an incentive for people to be “sick” in order to have extra days off. In recent years PTO (Personal time off), which can be used either for sick days or vacation time may have created an incentive for people to go to work when they’re sick.

Shared Germs

People bring their kids’ colds or flus to work making the workplace as much a breeding ground for this year’s bugs as the daycare centers where their children picked up theirs.

Repetitive Strain and Ergonomics

As more workers use computers and the incidence of repetitive strain injury grows significantly, ergonomics has become more important. Many companies offer their employees free ergonomic evaluations and willingly pay to correct ergonomic problems in an attempt to prevent repetitive strain injuries like carpal tunnel. Ergonomic chairs, workspaces and computer setups are common in today’s workplace, and yet so is carpal tunnel and other repetitive strain injuries.

Toxic Chemicals or Hazardous Materials

Due to the presence of toxic chemicals and hazardous materials some work environments aren’t especially healthy places. There may be hazardous materials in the ceiling, substances you’re allergic to in the carpets, a persistent draft in your work area, or you may even work with toxic chemicals on a day-to-day basis.

Toxic Co-Workers

The people you work with can be toxic too. Your boss, a co-worker, or a colleague in another part of the company may have a toxic effect on you. Whether it takes the form of bullying, discrimination, ruthless competition or sexual harassment, the people you work with can interfere with your health.

Is your workplace hazardous to your health?

If so, what can you do to safeguard your health?

High Stress Lifestyles

In addition to the stresses of a high performance career, most of today’s professionals want have a life outside of work. Even though they work long hours, most want to have a non-work life that is rich and satisfying too.

Juggling Multiple Challenges

The more complex your life becomes the bigger the juggling act. When you add a home, a family, aging parents, and community responsibilities to a high stress workstyle, you’ve got a lot of balls in the air. Keeping them airborne and moving without mishap is non-trivial. It certainly helps if you have a supportive spouse or partner. Whether or not you have support, the impact on your stress and your health can be significant.

When things are out of balance in your home or family life it affects your performance at work

People seem to bring plenty of non-work burdens to work. Whether it’s their pending divorces, their stressful commutes, problems with their teenagers, or issues with their in-laws, their co-workers often feel the effects. These get shared either because the person dealing with them needs a listening ear, or their co-workers feel the effects inadvertently because the person involved is often grouchy or uncooperative. Sometimes the person with the problem has an impact on the effectiveness of their workgroup, because they’re distracted by their problems and unable to fully contribute on the job.

Limits to Multitasking

We all have limits to what we can do or accomplish given limited time. Unfortunately these limits are invisible. Most of the time we don’t know that we’ve hit our limit until something, usually our health, breaks down. How do you know when you’ve hit a limit?

Puberty and Midlife have a lot in common.Your hormones change, your body changes, and your life changes.

Remember when you were approaching puberty and one of your parents or another trusted adult sat you down and had the “the talk”?

The normal physical changes at midlife can have even more significant consequences than those that happen at puberty, but most of us are not even slightly prepared for them!

Reading this report will help you:

Learn what’s really going on in your body at midlife and how it can impact your daily life
